Brian Gavin Diamonds

Brian Gavin used to be with WhiteFlash and created the "A Cut Above" diamonds, before he went on separate ways to start his own Brian Gavin Diamonds (BGD).

Correction from Todd Gray of Niceice.com. Brian Gavin actually started ACA even before he joined WhiteFlash.

BGD is similar to WhiteFlash, and provides all the necessary images, IdealScope, H&A image, etc. You may use their search function to filter out your desired diamond.

Congratulations! The 0.53 carat, F-color, VS-2 clarity, WF ACA diamond looks great! The 40.8 degree pavilion angle should produce a high volume of light return, while the 34.7 degree crown angle should produce a virtual balance of brilliance (white sparkle) and dispersion (colored sparkle).


The sparkle should be in the form of broad spectrum sparkle, due to the higher degree of optical precision and the 77% lower girdle facet length.

Broad spectrum sparkle tends to be larger in size, and bolder, brighter, and more vivid, than what is produced by standard ideal cut diamonds, which tend to lack the higher degree of optical precision and may feature LGF's which are more in the range of 80 - 82%.

Based on the reply, you can see that he is more of a technical person, which is actually good. Why? Because light reflection within the diamond is related to physics, and physics itself is, well, technical. Personally, I think it is good to put more attention to the angles of the diamond because there really is an ideal range of different angles for the diamond to shine. If we solely rely on things like GIA's Triple Excellent, and think that the stone is a good stone, you are buying blindly. Take some time to look at Paul's article.

Anyway, I am no expert so I have to rely on people like Paul from Beyond4cs and Todd Gray from Niceice. When dealing with them, I will just follow the simple steps I posted earlier. Although it is written with WhiteFlash in mind, but it is applicable to BGD as well.
